XL in Life encourages independence and choice through a range of accommodation and support options and can work to assist with choosing the right level of service and support that is suitable for participants.
Supported Independent Living
XL in Life provide supported independent living options and supports for people with disability in the Illawarra region and currently has vacancies.
We understand that each participant has a different journey to XL in LIFE, and our Supported Independent Living service provides each individual a safe, welcoming environment where participation in a respectful and supportive culture is encouraged and appreciated. Our staff work together with our partners and participants to develop tailored support programs, to make a lasting difference, helping participants enjoy a full and fulfilling life.
Who can access XL in Life’s supported accommodation?
Participants with disability between the ages of 18 and 65 can access our supported accommodation services. Places within accommodation service are subject to availability and with consideration of compatibility of residents in our homes.
When you let us know that you’re looking for a new home, we will consider your age, gender, health needs, interests and personal requests, to ensure you and your fellow housemates are well-suited and likely to enjoy each other’s company
Assistance with Daily Living
Help and Supervision of Daily Tasks to support participants to live as independently as possible while building their skills
XL in Life provides Assistance with Daily Living, to support you to live the life you choose. Our daily living supports are flexible and tailored to your own needs, goals and outcomes. At home, in the community, at school or work, for business, health or leisure, we provide support, seven days a week.
You might want:
- support getting ready for your day
- to get out and about in the community
- someone to do household chores
- someone to help with food preparation and meals
- support with health and fitness
- assistance getting to appointments, or
- some travel support.

Community Participation & Engagement
Supporting access to the community and social participation through a range of group and individual supports
XL in Life provides support to our participants to engage in social and recreational activities. This may include things such as attending appointments, relaxing outings, supported programs, shopping, or events. Our objective is to support you to achieve independence, and full social and economic participation.
Respite and Short Term Accommodation
A place to stay for a short break, some fun and to meet new friends
Short Term Accommodation, including respite, is support and accommodation for a short time away from your usual home. Respite or short-term accommodation also provides an opportunity for family or carers to take a short break from their daily routine.
These short breaks enable people with disabilities to be independent and continue to achieve their goals in a supported environment.
Our respite accommodation is a great place to meet people, enjoy activities and have the support of fully qualified staff to support your daily living needs.
Participants can stay for a day, overnight, a weekend or a few weeks. Stays can be scheduled for a needed rest or for an emergency visit, they may be regular or occasional.
Behavioural Support
Supporting behaviours of concern with positive and proactive engagement
XL in Life works with Support Coordinators and Behavioural Support Specialist to provide Behavioural Support in line with our participant’s NDIS goals.
Our staff are trained in line with each participants Behavioural Support Plan to assist in effectively managing feelings or behaviours that may cause physical or emotional harm, and provide a consistent approach to behavioural change.
